~*~ Journal ~*~

I was originally planning on putting my journal on this website, and though I still may do it when I return from the hike, I have decided in the meantime to leave my journal on Trail Journals. Why, you ask? Well, for a couple of reasons. First of all, there are hundreds of people that read trail journals, not just family and friends. When we hikers aren’t out hiking, we are living vicariously through other folks. I had started a journal back in April when I decided to hike, and there are already folks following my journal. I don’t want to suddenly stop reporting over there because people enjoy reading them (shocking, I know!). The reality is, not many people go looking for personal websites. This site is more for my family, friends, and me.

Secondly, Allie has been so kind as to offer to update my website for me while I’m hiking and I want to make it as painless as possible for her and I think the best way to do that is to have her transcribe directly to trail journals for the time being. I may still have her update this page occasionally with where I am. She’ll have her hands full just trying to decipher my handwriting on the pages that I send her! It’s either 1) send her pages that I’ve written or 2) take digital pictures of the pages I write and email those to her. Either way, she is doing me a huge favor and will be saving me a lot of time and money as it is one less thing to worry about in trail towns. I can concentrate on emailing friends/family rather than worrying about updating.

Here are the links to both my trail journal and Antonio’s for anyone that is interested:

There is a feature on the TJ website that shows our mail drops. We will be posting our anticipated mail drops, along with our ETA as they come up. If you would like to send us a letter or anything, please use the address shown on TJ. The format should contain the following information:

Kimberly Anderson and/or Antonio Lopez

c/o General Delivery (or business name, if that’s the case)

City/State/Zip Code

*please hold for Thru-hiker

(Also include our estimated date of arrival)

If you do send anything, please make sure you allow plenty of time for it to arrive at the destination so we don’t miss it. Mail drop locations may change so be sure to double check TJ before you send anything. Also, please remember that anything you send we will either a) be carrying on our backs or b) having to send it home. Unless you send food, in which case we will probably devour it before we get out of the post office. Thank you!

So you say you want to see where we are? You want to know how far we’ve gone. You want to laugh at how much further we have yet to travel on our achy little feet. Check out the 2006 A.T. Thru-hiker Progression Tracker, courtesy of Whiteblaze.net and a very dedicated man for keeping up with all of us! Due to time lapses, we hope we are further along than that little dot shows, but you never know.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to sign the guestbook! Also, if you enjoy reading them, I suggest you look around that site. There are some really great journals out there that are fun and interesting to read.
