The
Long Trail was not our original plan for 2006, but I am not complaining because
it was an amazing adventure filled with cooler weather, PUDS, MUDS, and a lot
of rocks, roots and mud. Things happen for a reason and although I would have
preferred to finish the A.T. adventure, being on the Long Trail was rewarding
in so many ways. One in particular is the simple fact that I have lived most of
my life in
We decided to hike the LT from south to
north, just another obsession of mine in going northbound. I couldn’t tell you
why I’m so adamant about heading north. I suppose in a way I equate north to
home…so when I hike north, I feel as though I’m going home. The Long Trail
begins at the Massachusetts/Vermont border and ends at the Vermont/Canada
border.
I hope you enjoy following us on this
adventure. If you have questions about the Long Trail or our hike, please feel
free to email me! If anyone is considering hiking the LT whether it’s a day hike,
a weekend, or a thru-hike, I would definitely encourage you to do it. The
terrain can be rugged but it is beautiful and rewarding. Just get out there and
do it.
