We backpackers are a funny bunch. We spend our free time roaming the open wilderness, sleeping beneath starry skies and fighting off wild bears and mosquitoes. When we come home, we run to our technological hook-ups and immediately upload pictures, pound out trip reports and create websites so we can share these experiences with everyone. I just began the elusive Art of Trip Reporting in the past year. I have listed the reports in chronological order and they exclude most day hikes. You will find I write what I am thinking, what I was feeling, and a lot about social interactions. Bottom line is that I write these reports for myself and what I’m writing is what stands out to me, whether it was an amazing view or an incredibly funny moment with some friends. I am teased quite often about my “novellas” and my sheer excitement. I guess it shows through in my writing.
