“How to satisfy that hiker-sized hunger!”

Five minutes into a conversation with a group of hikers and inevitably the topic will shift to food. What we eat on the trail…and what we want when we finally get to that elusive town stop. There is nothing quite like the first meal when you come out of the woods. If you want to know a good place to eat with reasonable prices, great tasting food, and hearty portions – just ask your favorite hiker for suggestions. When we were on the A.T., we found a lot of great places to eat…one of our favorites was not a restaurant. It was Fridge’s house outside of Damascus, VA. See picture on the right and if you can, please note the size of those steaks. One word: HUGE. Best damn steak I’ve ever had in my life. Below is a list of favorite haunts, what town they are in, what trail they are near and links to their sites whenever possible. If you are in the area – check them out and enjoy the feast!
